Cosmetic appearance was not a major consideration when molding the back cover of this instrument
cluster assembly since it would not be
visible to the consumer.
For that reason, the part was molded from
polycarbonate resin, a less expensive material than the ABS used for the
front cover.
Latch straps on outside of part snap into latches on
front cover to hold pieces together
Latches formed by steel wiping by from A side to B side
Vent holes in the back were formed by steel standing up on B side sealing off on the A side to form the window
