Hot Runner Mold - eliminate excess material retained in feed
channels of cold runner molds; reduces the number of production steps

Cold Runner Mold - excess material in
feed channel is cooled and ejected with the part; lower cost to design
and build mold; less expensive than a hot runner system; molds
require less maintenance; easy color changes
- Insulated Runner Mold
- variation of the hot runner system; mold is not heated; runner channels extremely thick, stay molten
during continuous cycling; flexible gating advantage of hot runners without added cost of manifold and drops
- Encapsulation Mold -
combine multiple materials into one
finished part; plastic part is formed or molded directly over or around metal or plastic
components; saves time and money; eliminates assembly step; few design limitations or restrictions on
material combinations
- Two-Shot Mold - produce plastic parts with two or more colors molded at the same time;
eliminates a secondary process to add logos, graphics or text
- Insert
Mold - plastic part is formed or molded directly over
or around metal or plastic components; results in a single piece assembly;
typical example is a plastic handle molded over a metal screwdriver
shaft; eliminates
the need for additional assembly process
- Stack Mold - high production molds with multiple parting lines; doubles the amount of cavity area within a mold; enables more production within the given press size; economical for high-production parts;
costs less than building two separate hot runner molds
- Unscrewing Mold -
produce plastic parts with internal or external threads; must be
carefully unscrewed from the mold to avoid thread damage; complex molds
need to move at high speeds to clear previously molded parts efficiently
and begin the next cycle
