The shipping cover was molded from 20% calcium carbonate-filled polypropylene for durability. Features of the mold and part include:

  • Tool action that is not visible at the parting line

  • Parting line would not break immediately as in a standard tool, which required a non-standard mold opening sequence:

    • Mold has slides below the surface on the A side

When looking at the tool from parting line, slides cannot be seen because they are below the parting line

    • Added an activation float to B side of mold

    • Parting line is actuated when clamp pressure is relieved and mold is opened

    • A secondary parting line is broken which actuated the movement of the slides so that they would disengage from the undercuts they formed
